The first ever competitive match for our U10's and what a fantastic game they played. From the kick off, the passing and movement was a joy to watch. Who'd have thought that some of the team hadnt kicked a ball until 4-5 weeks ago.

Some clinical finishing from Ruby who scored 8 goals over the two games, with Fulford winning the 2nd game 2-0

Well done girls a superb team performance.

Cup Semi Final

An early morning start saw us arrive at Brayton to find the Brayton team being put through their paces pre match.

we ran our usual ' relaxed' warm up regime, getting used to the pitch and conditions.

We did start slowly and after giving the ball away we conceded the first goal, as the ball took a bad bounce in front on Kayleigh.

Brayton put on a lot of pressure early on but it was dealt with well by Captain Himsworth and Tash.

We woked hard to get back into the game without our usual fluency, but battling hard in midfield were Eleanor, Grace, Annwenn and Lizzie, with Emily and Emma taking opportunity to hold the ball up at the top of the pitch. we got our just rewards when Emma equalised just before half time.

The second half was a real battle with our passing game improving, and our battling spirit very evident, annwenn found a chipping wedge from somewhere and nearly put us in the lead, and Kayleigh made some great saves to keep the game at 1-1 after full time.

Our superior footballing skills paid off with some great passing, and movement in the first half of extra time, and we went 2-1 up through a Lizzie Derbyshire barnstormer then 3-1 up when from a throw in we shifted the ball quickly via Emily into the path of Emma who struck the ball home.

All credit to Brayton though as the second half of extra time they piled on the pressure, it was only some brave tackling from all the girls but in particular Lizzie, and some more great saves from Kayleigh.

The pressure paid off when Braytion were awarded a penalty, not sure 'deliberate' was in the frame, but tough call for the referee. It took a few minutes to sort kayleighs ankle injusry but she got up stood up tall and watched as the Brayton penalty taker took the penalty and struck it over the cross bar.

3-2 to Fulford Under 10's after extra time and a place in the Cup Final.

No more than the girls deserved. You should all be proud of yourselves for how you are conducting yourselves on the pitch, and how you are progressing as players. keep listening, keep practising and you stand a great chance of winning the cup.

We got a really nice text from John at Brayton wishing us all the best in the final.

Keep putting the effort in and the rewards will come girls, can't really single anyone out, you are playing as a team and that is what counts!!

Well Done

This was a game where we needed to get our own back after defeat earlier in the season.
Once again we started well, and really passed the ball with confidence. Not only that, but the battling qualitries shown pre Xmas were very much evident as all the girls got stuck in, and made sure we kept Braytons chances to a minimum.
Kayleigh was her usual confident self in goal and rarely did it look like anything was going to get passed her.
Jodie and Tash at the back to start were again solid, and distributed the ball well. Our midfield unit of 5 is fast becoming the best in the league, as the mix of passing, tackling and workrate is becoming more and more evident. Lizzie despite a foot niggle, Annwen despite her shin pads, Eleanor despite her pink hat, Emily despite Sooty and Grace despite her new hat were all once again consistent and all interchange really well. Emma was her usual viobrant self up front and once again scored for us.
The game was rounded off when Annwen scored a second goal, which means that if we can either draw or beat Scotton on Saturday we will finish second in the League.
Well done girls you have been brilliant, keep up the good work and we will see how we get on on Saturday, and then in the cup competitions.

Girls U10  Scarborough Ladies1 - 1Draw
As with the last game versus Scarborough this was another good game. The pitch was a little hard due to the inclement weather, but thankfully the journey through to Eastfield ended up in a well matchd tie. We had the majority of play in the first half but could not convert any chances and then against therun of play we conceded near the end of the first half.
Scarborough had much more of the play in the second half, and we kept fighting and showing a team spirit which really was fantastic.
More of the usual consistent play from all the girls with Annwenn, Grace and Jodie standing out.
We battled right until the end and that paid off when Annwenn crossed for Jodie to tuck home right at the final whistle, and we definitely gpot what we deserved with the 1-1 draw. The only downside was that this meant that Knaresborough were too many points in front of either us or Scarborough for us to catch in the League

Well done again girls!!

Not as fluent a performance as last week, but still a great win.

We went 1 - 0 up within 90 seconds when Lizzie broke through and hit a shot which was too hot to handle for the Copmanthorpe goalkeeper.

We dominated play in the first half with good breaks from Lizzie, Emma, Emily and Annwen in particular and the usual resolute defending from Jodie and Tash and Grace (reminder to Tash for the next game, REMEMBER YOUR BOOTS!!),

We went 2 - 0 up when Lizzie scored her second after 9 minutes. We came in at half time at that score and had a chat about passing more.

The second half we definitely passed much better creating chances but could not get the 3rd goal, Copmanthorpe played much better in the second half as well, with Kayleigh making a couple of great saves, so proved to be another good match.

Well done girls keep up the good work

GET IN !!!

In what can only be called our only grudge match of the season the girls put in a fantastic performance to beat the top team in the league on their own ground, the first time they have been beaten this year.

All the girls put all the hard work we have been doing in training into practice and it was great to see the passing, tackling and shooting pay off.

In the first half we dominated possession, with some excellent passing and movement particularly from the girls in midfield, with Lizzie really driving the team forward at every opportunity.

Kayleigh took a knock and had to come off for 5 minutes, and Tasha volunteered to cover in goal, then just before the half time break we got what we deserved with a fine team goal finished off by Emma, fast becoming our goal poacher supreme.

The Knaresborough Celtic management team huffed and puffed through half time, then in our only spell of 5 minutes just after half time where we lost concentration Knareborough equalised.

That spurred us back into action, and with some fantastic saves from Kayleigh restored in goal, some stout defending from Tasha and particularly Jodie and with Annwen, Eleanor, Lizzie, Emily, Grace and Emma all tackling and passing with great commitment, we got what we deserved when Emma scored hers and our second goal.

Not a stonewall defensive performance, and even playing over a minute and a half extra in the second half for some reason, it was a really well deserved victory.

Well done girls, we are proud of that performance, and that should set the standard for the rest of the season.

Girls U10  Scotton Scorchers1 - 2Loss
This was a game we dominated from start to finish on a very boggy pitch and in very cold, wet weather.

As has become the norm, we let them score first despite having numerous opportunities to get to at least 3 goals to the good before half time.

Emma scored a good goal for us, but near the end we conceded a second gaol which in effect was their 4th shot of the match.

Well played girls, lets work on the finishing this week.

Another fantastic performance from the girls who are improving with every game. Once again we decided to do it the hard way by going 1 down midway through the first half to a goal which saw an unfortunate bounce take the ball out of Kayleighs reach.

However, this did not deter our girls and they kept passing the ball around and got their reward just before half time when Lizzie finished off a move which started way back in our own half.

The second half was another evenly fought contest and with some fantastic defending by all the girls, but particularly Anwen and Josie who did a great job meant that Scarborough couldn't breach our defences again.

About half way through the second half we again put together a great passing move which left Tash 1 on 1 with their keeper and cooly slotted home to win the game for us. Again stout defending in the last 5 minutes meant that we secured our second win in 3 games.

Mentions for all the girls, Anwwenn and Jodie and Eleanor for their defensive efforts, Kayleigh for some great stops in goal, and Emma, Lizzie, Grace, Tash and Emily for their passing and movement which is just what we have been working on in training.

Well done girls keep it up!!

Girls U10  Copmanthorpe4 - 1Win
The under 10's played away at Copmanthorpe this weekend, with a couple of substitutes, which made a big difference to the way the team played.

In what can only be described as a superb team performance, we managed to go 1 nil down very much against the run of play mid way through the first half.

We managed to pull 1 goal back almost immediately, followed by a missed penalty, and then we went 2-1 up just before half time.

The game saw our girls trying to pass the ball around, and with Emma Dorland and Lizzie Derbyshire in particular driving forward with the ball, we saw what we are capable of.

All players again were fantastic, and the goals were shared between Lizzie and Emma who scored 2 each.

Good debuts for Emily Cutts and Grace Hall, and consistently strong performances building on last week from Kayleigh in goal, Jodie and Anwen in defence, and Eleanor and Natasha in midfield.

Well done girls, more of the same in 2 weeks time please!!

In what was the Under 10's first game together, there were some very encouraging signs of things to come.

Despite going 1-0 down in the first 10 minutes, the girls continued to try and pass the ball around, rather than just lump it forward.

With only 7 players available for the game, they stuck together and got a goal back just after half time, in a period of 5 minutes we looked the better team, and Emma scored a great goal after some great team play.

However, we started to run out of steam towards the end and conceded a further 3 goals, which didn't reflect the play at all. There were some great performances from all the girls, with Kayleigh playing a blinder in goal, Jodie and Annwenn looking defiant in defence, and then some great tackling and passing movements from Lizzie, Tasha, Eleanor and Emma.

Well done girls, things will definitely only get better!!

Fantastic performance from all the team. We didnt kill the game off till late on in the 2nd half after some excellent passing from the defence thru the whole team allowing us a great win. Not our greatest performance of the season but Eagles 4 defenders made it difficult.
