Match report   After just over 2 months without a game, the waiting was finally over. Game on against Heworth.

It seemed in the opening exchanges that Heworth had improved immensely from our last meeting at the beginning of the season and the Foxes quickly realised that they’d have to play well to beat this outfit and that’s exactly what they proceeded to do.

In the opening exchanges, Heworth created a couple of good chances, however they were up against the best goalie in the league by a stretch in Sofia and she pulled of a couple of great saves to keep the scores level. Up the over end Dani was making some great runs down the right and always seemed to find space in which to receive the ball, either from Amy or Sophie in the centre of midfield. It took around 10 minutes for the Foxes to break Heworth down in a wonderful free flowing move Emily played Amy in to calmly slot home and put the Foxes one up. Amy should perhaps have had another if it weren’t for the Heworth manger refing the game from the touchline and calling offside when Amy was played clean through, with the ref reacting to the pleas to blow a couple of seconds later. Amy was also unlucky again in the 2nd half when she was clearly on, but once again the Heworth manager was calling the shots with the ref!

Enough of my whinge, the Foxes were in fact playing some very slick football, with Emily also bursting through on a couple of occasions and Dani, who was always a menace to the Heworth defence was also played in, but unfortunately her 1st touch just let her down and the chance evaporated. Minutes later though Dani pounced on some poor control from a Heworth defender, to coolly slot into the bottom corner and notch up her 1st goal of the season. Half time and 2-0 to the Foxes.

On with the 2nd half, where in the opening exchanges it was pretty much one-way traffic, with Georgie now proving to be a menace down the left, and in a couple of great runs where she bared down on goal, she was unlucky not to pick up her 1st goal of the season However, this was to be Georgie’s day and from a beautifully flighted corner from Emily, the ball landed on a plate at Geogie’s feet for her to thrash into an unguarded net at the back post. The Foxes were 3 to the good. After that is was wave upon wave of Foxes attacks. Emily made it 4, after some nice interplay with Amy, and Sophie M nearly put the icing on the cake when she burst through the middle only to shoot narrowly wide. Right at the end Sofia had to be on her toes, to pull of a magnificent fingertip save. Game over, 4-0 to the Foxes.

All in all a fine performance from the Foxes, both defensively and in attack. The movement off the ball was fantastic and what was most pleasing was that there were always options for the player on the ball, with either Dani down the right, Georgie or Abby down the left or Sophie, Amy or Emily bursting through the middle or in fact the defensive unit backing up from behind,.

GOG: Sandy, not mentioned in the report but showed very good awareness to break up the Heworth attacks, was always on hand to provide support to her plays and her passing was immaculate. Well played Sandy!
