| Match report | A full house of players meant that i almost found myself surplus to requirements and on the brink of demotion to the first team ,but with a couple of drop outs and reports that Hoody had toothache meant i was able to get my foot in the door of the over stuffed tin of sardines that is the reserves (i realise that tins dont have doors as such ,more peel back lids,that nowadays come with their own ring pull,i wonder when the poor tin opener will be consigned to history ? ) Anyway with the team selected on a next through the changing room door basis we had a decent line up. Clearly this was going to be a tough game from the off with Callum busy from the early exchanges and it wasnt long before we fell behind and it was a struggle from then on ,Ford giving the ball away too easily and not creating enough in terms of good chances,the back four being overworked too many spaces in midfield and the forwards chasing loose balls but at 2 down we pulled one back ,Dan Holmes made a commited run down the left bundling past a couple of challenges and as the keeper and me and tim expected the ball to be squared ,Holmes shot low at the near post for 2-1 We were competing more at this stage and with a bit more composure throughout we may have gone on to get something from the game ,changes were made on the hour ,Saxton and Dunn leaving the field soon followed by Tim ,soon after this Rico was adjudged to have handled in the area and the penalty signalled a collapse from Fulford eventually losing 7-1 ,one was another penalty and one a fine free kick i cant really recall the others but Callum deserves a mention for pulling off a string of saves and was right up there in the votes with Dan "Forrest" Holmes who gave maximum effort . On the plus side i wouldnt think we will come up against many better teams this season and with a strong squad and a bit of team gelling we should be able to match or hopefully better last seasons 4th place finish ,note to our back room staff ,we need some heat rub in our first aid bag if were to get promoted !!! ps If the web site administrator is reading can i request Player Profiles and some sort of forum please Dunny |
