| Match report | A gap in the league fixture list gave us the opportunity to play York Cubs of division 2 in a friendly on a glorious morning and it was Fulford who again started strongly and took the lead through Matty Fairburn's 1st goal of the season, a right footed side foot finish in to the bottom left hand corner of the net from inside the box. James Wood (Woody) doubled our lead with his 1st goal of the season after Paddy Wintie had narrowly shot wide. The Cubs striker nipped in between two defenders to half our lead before Rob Cowley's 3rd of the season restored our 2 goal cushion. Cubs scored again just before half time to make it 3:2. The second half gave our goalkeeper Jack Bell the chance to have a run out and he was replaced by Craig Swinton between the sticks. Craig did not have much to do as we made chance after chance. Paddy scored a screamer from outside the box, Jack Davies scored with a header, Rob Cowley and Woody completing the scoring. Woody nearly had his hatrick as even he was left amazed seeing the ball over the bar from a yard out. A good all round team performance completing our first win of the 2009/10 campaign. |
