Match report   It was another beautiful day for a game of football and this time the Fulford Foxes were entertaining the Copmanthorpe Foxes! Yes the Cop could only muster up 4 players and to make it a good game for the spectators who had travelled mostly form Fulford, Maisie, Elle and Laura volunteered their services for the newly formed Copmanthorpe Foxes. Well done girls, I know it can’t have been easy for you playing for the opposition but I’m sure the Cop girls very much appreciated having you on their team.

So on with the game and 1st up on the scoresheet was Abby. After some fine play down the left Abby was back to scoring ways finding the bottom right corner of the net hard and handsome from just inside the box. Then again Abby was in the thick of the action laying off a great through ball for Emily to run in 1 on 1 with the goalie, no need to watch the outcome, it was inevitable. 2-0 to the Foxes. Next up straight from the restart Emily went on a great Messi like run, straight through the whole of the Cop Foxes team only to find the keeper in fine form to pull off a great last ditch save. The Foxes weren’t to be denied for too much longer, again after a great run from Emily, with just the goalie to beat, Emily showed her unselfish streak to square the ball to Amy to pass into an unguarded net. Great goal, great team play! Next up it was Sophie Mole’s turn to get in on the action picking up another loose ball in midfield, she rode a couple of challenges to fire in from close range. Then to round the half off Amy finished off a great move from back to front with a cool finish from just inside the area. That was half time 5-0 to the Foxes and it could have been more but for some great defensive work from Maisie, Elle and Laura.

On with the 2nd half and Amy was 1st to get her name on the scoresheet meeting a great corner from Emily to stick in the back of the net. Next up, Amy returned the compliment to Emily for her 2nd goal of the game. Amy to that point had worked tirelessly and was unlucky to take a knock from a strong challenge from Elle and had to site out the rest of the game. Just showed you how committed the Foxes on the Cop team were! Next up Sophie Mole back in business sending a screamer into the top right corner of the net (via the slightest of deflections0 to put the Foxes 8 up. Charlie too was know relinquishing her defensive shackles and was getting more and more into the action up the Cop end. Unfortunately for her the ball just wasn’t running for her and Charlie just came within a few hairs breadths of opening her account for the season. Beth Weeks however did manage to open her account for the season, scoring after a fine direct run from the left side of midfield. Then to wrap up affairs Abby found Emily in space with just the keeper to beat and that was it done and dusted. 10-0 to the Fulford Foxes.

Girl of the game: Amy Scored a hatrick, was a driving force in midfield and was very brave after taking a nasty knock half way through the 2nd half. Well done Amy!
